Gertie does not care too much about technology-- except she demands attention when both of my hands are on the computer keyboard. She is persistent!
The most fun I have had with technology in the past couple of months was when I started a facebook page. I have a new Mac notebook and I am still learning the ins and outs. Thanks to my friend Karen H for helping me with it. But my favorite technology moment when I was working on the facebook page and my computer poped up a message box and said "can I take your picture for your facebook page?" I said yes and my computer took my picture and posted my picture! Yippee!

Becoming one with technology
Databases, oh my. After a meeting I decided to ask my staff which databases they use at Lincoln City Libraries, what types of questions they are answering, and just to comment in general. After receiving about 10 I knew it would be a tabulating nightmare. Then Sean comes to my rescue and designs a survey on survey monkey that does the tabulating. We sent it out and await the results. We will resend it in six months or so. Now my questions is "How long will it take for technology answers to become MY first choice of problem solving???" I will get there.
PS Gertie went for a five mile walk yesterday and slept the rest of the day - Hurrah! Julie

Flickr @ the library
When I was at Eiseley we started using Flickr to post bulletin board displays and book displays. Then we learned there was a trick to posting them in a special group. Once you work through it works swell. It also works great to go to Flickr and search bulletin boards, libraries, winters or some sorts of tags to find great ideas.

ITALY
My dad and sister and I just returned from a week in Italy. I know- what a shame.
The buses were all decorated beautifully. View this one:

Just what do you suppose it means? Imagination walks?? One should only read books while doing a headstand?
We also walked by the library in Venice. It was right on San Marco square. Thie sign on the door read: For READERS only. I regret not going in. Were they keeping the tourists out? Were we not meant to use their bathrooms Can you only read books in there?
Can you read emails? Can you talk to the librarian? I will never know!

Nebraska 2.0
Gertie and I are sitting at home blogging- or at least I am. She has emptied out the wastebasket and is eating everyting in it. My Goals for Library 2.0: To become comfortable with the technolgoy and to be able to explain it to customers without going "Whoa I need to think about this." I can blog, Rss, WIki ize. Gertie can eat, drink, bark and did I mention eat. I am looking forward to creating my own youtube video. She is looking forward to sneaking the loaf of bread off the counter without my catching her. We are in this together.
